Pine Cottage has a long history on Mackinac Island

Pine Cottage Bed and Breakfast is one of Mackinac Island’s treasured hideaways. Tucked along quiet Bogan Lane just steps away from Main Street, Lake Huron, miles of nature trails, and downtown shopping, dining, attractions, and nightlife.

Built in 1870, Pine Cottage was one of the first hotels on the island. Over the years it has welcomed some famous guests including writer Ernest Hemingway and baseball player, Ty Cobb.

Since purchasing the cozy cottage in 2016, the Callewaert family continues to update this historic and beautiful property allowing guests to enjoy a safe, comfortable, and memorable stay on Mackinac Island for many years to come.

In May 2020, Pine Cottage Bed & Breakfast guest rooms and bathrooms will open with some fresh rustic Victorian cottage décor. Improvements to the air conditioning and plumbing are anticipated, in addition to replacing the windows. Old carpet has been removed to expose the rustic hardwood floors. Rooms that previously had two beds now have either one king- or queen-sized bed for added comfort during your romantic cottage getaway. Guests can now reserve two of the much-desired water view rooms. The cottage bathrooms beloved country character given by the antique claw foot tubs remain.
